How to Choose Resume Templates

You need to start with a rough idea of what you wish to include in your resume. Sure a resume template can help but they can’t do all the work. Find out what sets you apart and makes you different then you can go find some resume templates and it will help with the organization and structure. If you get a mind block go ahead and take a break and do something else. But make sure to do something active. If you are serious about finding a job you can’t watch TV. When you come back fresh gather your thoughts and just write down everything that comes to mind.

I encourage people to find their own voice. A boring resume is not going to get you anywhere. So figure out what you are really passionate about and why. Let your passion overflow in your resume. To many resumes are just written in generic language. People use resume templates and forget to be themselves. Here are some basic tips for you.

How long should my resume be?
The standard is one page. But, how can you be passionate in a page. I think two pages is sufficient if you really have something to say and work experience to show it would be hard to make that fit on one piece of paper.

What kind of spacing should there be?

Employers are going to be skimming fast through resumes.  So spacing is important.  Just like you would see in a brochure or advertisement, it is important for people to quickly recognize what is important.   Most resume templates do have proper spacing but I would double check by cross referencing your resume with a brochure and compare the spacing.  After all you are selling yourself.
